Post-Operative Rehabilitation

Physiotherapy is highly recommended after a fracture or orthopaedic surgery to regain full function and also return to sport. Often the results that people get after immobilisation in a cast or a joint replacement are directly related to the quality of their rehab and post-operative physiotherapy.

Physiotherapy is necessary to regain joint range of movement, increase muscle strength and decrease the pain and stiffness associated with post-operative period. The Physios will also teach you how to use crutches and aids for everyday tasks such as going up and down the stairs, standing up and sitting down, so that you can function normally without putting excess strain on other parts of your body.  In addition if surgery has been recommended Physiotherapy is encouraged before the surgery date to strengthen the muscles around the joint, which will speed up the recovery period.

Chartered Physiotherapists work in conjunction with the Orthopaedic Surgeons to ensure the rehabilitation goals are achieved and you gain the full benefit of your surgery. At Physio Solutions we rehabilitate a range of post-operative conditions including

  • Joint Replacements; hips, knees, ankles, shoulder
  • Keyhole Surgery; knees, shoulders, hip, ankles
  • Tendon/ Ligament Repair; Cruciate ligaments, Rotator Cuff
  • Spinal Surgery
  • Joint Manipulations
  • Fractures
