Sports Injuries

There are many different injuries that can happen during sport but the majority of injuries are to the soft tissues; muscles, ligaments and tendons. These can be traumatic; including ankles sprains, knee ligament sprains, muscle tears, joint dislocations and fractures, or overuse injuries caused by muscle imbalance and improper technique. After a traumatic injury it is important to seek professional assessment and treatment to ensure no unnecessary complications arise and to get you back playing as soon as possible. Injuries left to heal themselves or poorly treated can lead to long term residual problems due to, soft tissue adhesions and tightness, joint stiffness, muscle imbalance and a deficiency in the return of normal muscle strength.

Everyone who participates in sports and exercise will be aware that after a tough session you might feel a bit sore the day after but this delayed onset of muscle soreness (DOMS) should fully resolve after 2-3 days. If you have a niggle that does not settle after a few days you may be developing an overuse injury and if not properly treated these injuries can lead to ongoing problems which can affect your sporting performance. If you are not sure if we can help you, please call us and we can advise you.

Many clubs will have a ‘physio’ who provides rubs at training and match days, however many of them are not Chartered Physiotherapists qualified to treat and rehabilitate injuries. The Chartered Physiotherapists at Physio Solutions have worked with sports teams, both in the clinic setting and pitch-side, and are very experienced in accurate diagnosis and rehabilitation. Our aim is to get you back to the sport you love with the minimum time away from the pitch or track. We love to treat active people, so much so that we offer very competitive club rates to members of local teams and clubs.

For more information or to register your club or team please contact Physio Solutions today.

  • A rehabilitation program that includes stretching exercises to maintain flexibility and strengthening exercises to get you back fit again and prevent a reoccurrence.
